An Extra Special Christmas

There is something about this time of year that makes me anticipate it for the other 10 or 11 months. Getting to spend more quality time with family, and of course going to the mailbox each day to find Christmas cards awaiting us! But more than ever this year, I am overwhelmed by God's graciousness, for we have been blessed this 2010 year with our own son. I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas, and continues their joy throughout the New Year!

Before we headed to Amarillo the Gary side of our family had a progressive dinner (inspired and planned by my Aunt Kathy) that was so much fun, and ended with a birthday party for my wonderful Aunt Gale. Cape did really well through it all. Murr always was a fascinating story teller, and always told a story at Christmas. A story about the real meaning for Christmas. This year Papa read a story for all of us and did a good job getting through most of it, and then I got to read the rest. What a blessing to be with those we love, and to remember the ones who are no longer with us.

We had a wonderful time in Amarillo for Christmas this year. Cape must have been very good because Santa came even though we didn't leave out cookies and snacks!  Ted and Susan have moved into a new house, so it was fun to be in a new place with everyone. I thought Christmas Day movie was out of the picture now with a sweet baby at home, but Lolli and Pop stayed with sleeping Cape while Clark, Kyle and I went to see a movie. Cape hadn't seen the Amarillo bunch in a couple of months, but he did great with everyone and had a blast playing and crawling all over!
Good CHRISTMAS morning Sunshine!

Santa brought a wagon big enough for my horse too!

We could hardly even get him to grab the tissue paper!

Opening gifts with Daddy
After Christmas we headed to my parent's house for more opening gifts and family time. I love watching our parents be grandparents, it is so much fun! Cape was given more fun things, and got to spend some time with his cousin too! What a duo Graham and Cape will be next year at this time. :) Boss and Lala had taken us all on the Polar Express before Christmas, where Cape was given a bell from Santa...which he tried to eat of course. He may not have known what all was going on, but it was a good excuse for all the grownups to get to ride!
